Appointment of A New Managing Partner

Friday, March 27th, 2020

The firm appoints a new Managing Partner effective February, 2020.

At the inception of the Firm, Apio, Byabazaire, Musanase & Co. Advocates, the founding Partners resolved quite distinctively from the usual norm that in every year (with exception of the 1st year), the firm would appoint a new Managing Partner, (much like an election term) with a unique concept to enhance inclusivity of the Partners, strengthening of skills and qualities in order to identify each Partners uniqueness.

This resolution was in deed adopted and has been maintained.

And so, for the periods April 2017 when the firm had just started to January, 2019, Mrs. Shane Gloria Musanase -Mugenga steered the reigns of the firm and during that period, she enhanced the brand which is now famously known as, “ABM”, an acronym of each of the Partners surnames.

In her era, the firm grew immensely from a small team of 4 members including all the Partners to a team of 7. During this time, we adopted a clear division of roles and set systems which have set the pace for what ABM is today. Shane’s management skills were the beginning of a beautiful and fruitful partnership and her guidance was not only exceptional but thoughtful. Her caring, Godlike wisdom is unmatched and remains an asset to the firm.

In February, 2019, new management was appointed in Mrs. Naomi Byabazaire -Mwebaze. She took the role steadfastly coupled with the role of Partner in charge of Finance.

Ms. Naomi’s management provided a firm, solid yet calm approach. In her era of management, our firm again grew from a team of 7 members to a team of 12. She enhanced the systems that had been put in place and identified areas that needed additional support. The firm was able to once again set itself apart in the Legal fraternity as a pace setting and unique boutique.

More male staff members where recruited during Naomi’s management, which brought forth more balance and diversity. As an equal opportunity employer, this was key to the firm. For the year that Mrs. Mwebaze controlled the firm’s direction, ABM has been recognized in a number of activities within the Uganda Law Society and the business world and her contribution to the firm is nothing short of invaluable.

Now, yet again the firm appoints a new Managing Partner in Ms. Jamina Apio effective February, 2020.

Ms. Apio who also is Partner in charge of Business and Strategy and head of the Intellectual Property Function takes over the reigns in a time of global unrest. Her stewardship and management shall guide ABM through the storm into a safe haven. In this year of 2020, the team will expect a lot of changes both in the way business is done as well as how the firm will be run.

We wish Jamina all the very best and pray for God’s guidance and wisdom during her leadership.

We also thank our Past Leaders, Shane and Naomi for the amazing contribution and guidance towards the growth and advancement of ABM.

We shall remain “A Better Measure”
