Mining

We have acted for a number of clients in the Mining in Uganda. We are keen on advising clients on all aspects of due diligence, regulatory compliance, negotiations and contract documentation in the power sector.

Our practice includes:

  • Advising clients on the due diligence process of considering investment(s) in the power sector;
  • Advising clients on aspects of negotiation, procurement and contract documentation;
  • Advising clients on preparation of applications for all types of mineral rights and the requirements for retention of such mineral rights;
  • Advising clients on all matters relating to acquiring surface rights necessary for operation under different types of mineral rights in Uganda;
  • Advising clients on the negotiation and drafting of all agreements pertaining to mining including but not limited to: agreements for exploration, mining, acquisition and disposal of mineral rights;
  • Advising clients on applications for permits required to conduct operations under all types of mineral rights, and the requirements for retention of such permits under the laws of Uganda;
  • Advising clients on disposal and transfer of all types of mineral rights and the tax implication of such transactions;
  • Representing clients before any court, tribunal or government official to oppose or defend any administrative or judicial decision in respect to any mineral right or permit required to conduct operations under any mineral right.
